Official: Howell man put out antifreeze to poison animals
HOWELL - A township man has been charged with animal abuse after authorities say he put containers of antifreeze on his front lawn in an attempt to poison animals.
Wesley Shourt, 45, of Mouse Creek Court, was charged this afternoon with abuse of a living creature, said Victor "Buddy" Amato, chief of the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Amato said Shourt and his neighbor have been involved in an ongoing dispute over the neighbor's cats defecating on his lawn.
He said Shourt began putting the antifreeze in plastic containers on his lawn about two weeks ago, but police do not have any evidence that any animals were killed.
