Neptune man charged with allowing dog to freeze to death

A township man was arrested on charges of animal cruelty after, officials say, he allowed a female pit bull-mix to freeze to death Saturday. Robert Dunbar, 25, of Sixth Avenue was charged Tuesday night with three counts of animal cruelty after Sgt. Matty Juliano of the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was sent to investigate with assistance from township police, said SPCA Police Chief Victor ""Buddy" Amato said.

Dunbar could face a maximum of more than $3,000 in fines and six months in jail if convicted in Municipal Court, Amato said.
