Holmdel man charged with choking two dogs after one soils furniture
A Yellowbrook Road man was charged with two counts of animal abuse after he choked and threw two Yorkshire terriers onto a marble floor when one dog soiled his couch, said Victor "Buddy" Amato, police chief of the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
John C. Tumazos, 53, was issued summonses by Amato after police were called to his home about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Police referred the call to Amato.
The two dogs belonged to Tumazos' estranged wife, Adele Tumazos of West Virginia, who had come to the house to visit and had left for a brief time, Amato said. While she was out, John Tumazos injured the dogs, Amato said.
There were children in the home when the dogs "Nena and Peanut" were assaulted, Amato said.
Nena suffered an injury to her leg and had to be treated at the Red Bank Animal
Hospital, Amato said.
Adele Tumazos took her dogs and went home to West Virginia after they were examined by the veterinarian, Amato said.
John Tumazos is scheduled to appear in municipal court on the charges April 8, Amato said.
