Man accused of leaving dog in hot car in Keansburg

KEANSBURG - Authorities cited a man from Union for animal cruelty Monday, accused of leaving his dog in an unattended car for more than an hour.

Ryan C. Corbin, 27, is scheduled to appear in Municipal Court July 30 to answer the summons issued by the Monmouth County chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

SPCA Chief Victor "Buddy" Amato said a borough parking enforcement officer called his office after she saw a terrier alone in the backseat of a car.

Amato said Corbin had gone to the boardwalk and returned to the car only after being paged. The temperature inside the car, he said, was recorded at 100 degrees.

The animal cruelty charge carries a fine of up to $1,000, Amato said.
