Tamara Bass, 24, of Shoreland Drive, kept the dog - a pit bull renamed Lucky after he was rescued - locked inside a small cage, said Victor "Buddy" Amato, chief law enforcement officer for the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The dog was found severely emaciated, he said. On Monday, Bass pleaded guilty to failing to provide food, water and shelter to an animal, Amato said. She was fined $1,500 and ordered not to own another animal for five years, he said. Bryan Maraza, 36, left three cats locked inside his apartment after he was evicted from 36 Thousand Oaks Drive in October, Amato said. Two of the cats starved to death, said Amato, who renamed the surviving short-hair domestic Fluffy. On Monday, Maraza pleaded gulity to three counts of animal cruelty, Amato said.
