Pet care warning issued by SPCA

KEANSBURG: The Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has warned a borough woman to better care for the 12 cats and one dog she's keeping in her Highland Avenue home.

The woman was not charged with any crime, said SPCA Police Chief Victor "Buddy" Amato, whose visit this week was prompted by resident complaints about the cats, which aren't spayed or neutered.

"I told her that she should really get that cleaned up and that she should consider trying to get most of those animals signed over to either the SPCA or the Associated Humane (Societies)," Amato said.

"It doesn't take long for it to get out of hand," he added.

The resident could not be reached for comment.
