Reward offered for information on dog found shot along Manasquan River
Authorities are offering a $500 cash reward for any information related to the fatal shooting of a dog along the Manasquan River earlier this month.
A resident walking along a path off Squankum Road found the mixed-breed beagle early in the afternoon of May 3, said Victor "Buddy" Amato, chief of the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
At the time, Amato said, the dog was alive but had been shot three times.
Members of the local Associated Humane Societies chapter were called by police to take the dog to Garden State Veterinary Clinic in Tinton Falls, but the wounds were too severe and the dog was euthanized.
The SPCA is now offering the reward with the hopes of coaxing information from the public about the shooting.
"Right now, we haven't spoken to anyone who heard or saw anything," Amato said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Amato at 732-312-7153 or Howell police at 732-938-4575.
