Article Archive > Atlantic Highlands man accused of stabbing dog to death Atlantic Highlands man accused of stabbing dog to death ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS - A borough man is accused of the stabbing death of his dog in a wooded area in Middletown on Wednesday, according to Victor "Buddy'' Amato, chief law enforcement officer for the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Jay Miller, 29, of the first block of East Lincoln Avenue, allegedly took his 6-year-old boxer named Ginger to a wooded area off Whippoorwill Valley Road and stabbed the dog until she was dead, Amato said. Police and the SPCA received an anonymous tip that the dog was missing and that Miller was saying he took the dog to be euthanized, Amato said. After an investigation the dog was located and Miller was arrested with the assistance of borough Detective Sgt. Thomas Stone. Miller is charged with 2 counts of animal cruelty and a pair of weapons offenses, Amato said. Miller was remanded to the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township on $35,000 bail. Article |
