US SHOULD NOT PULL OUT OF IRAQ
    by BUDDY AMATO

First of all, I am not out to blast all Democrats in this coloumn. In fact, I know many good Democrats feel strongly what our troops are doing in Iraq. Like many Republicans, they know the war is something America needs to be into for the long haul.

For the United States to pull out now would be a travesty, because it would mean that our brave young men and women who fought and died did so for nothing.

President Bush can't seem to win with his critics. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.But, if he pulls the troops out, right after they won the ground campaign, then people will also be criticizing him for prematurely pulling out at a critical time for Iraq.

As it is, the United States left Iraq tomorrow, it could be argued that America would be dealing with a new regime and new terrorist threats by next year.

It's been two years since the tragedy at the World Trade Center. No one has forgotton the horror of terrorism right here on our own shores.

Terrorism was the reason that the United States invaded Afghanistan. Terrorism was the reason that the United States invaded Iraq. The terrorists that seek to kill Americans for its own sake are not from the United States. They are from foreign shores. They train at terrorist training centers in host nations that encourage terrorism. What our brave men and women in the armed forces are doing is trying to bring the fight to the terrorists, rather than the fight coming here to our country, and I thank God for that and I thank God for these fine Americans in uniform.

The fact that President Bush brought the fight to the terrorists demonstrates his resolve and strenght, as well as our national commitment to not running and hiding from a pack of filthy killers. I know this is election time again, and many politicians are scrambling, trying to find things to attack President Bush and his supporters about. But, wake up, the last thing that I think anyone should be attacking is fighting terrorists.

Just like when September 11th happened, elected officals regardless of whether they are Republicans or Democrats, came together. How can the United Stated be as effective overseas as it can be if we are divided here at home? The short answer is that we cannot. The enemyin the War on terrorism is as real a threat as the Nazis during the Second World war. In that war, Americans backed our President and our military, and the Nation came through a very difficult time.

If anyone thinks that it is OK for foreign terrorists to plot, plan and execute plans to kill Americans, either in the United Stated or overseas, then they better wake up and smell the jet fuel. the only was to beat terrorists is to confront them, using the armed forces. I recently attended the September 11th Memorial dedication in Hazlet. The people that lost loved ones in the tragedy seem to really believe in what the country is doing.

These terrorists tried to destroy our way of life. But, they didn't get away with it. And, they can't get away with it in the future. The only was to do that is to make sure that terrorists are hunted down and held responsible for their actions. The biggest joke, as if France was not the joke itself, is that French President Jock Strap and his coalition of clowns want the USA to leave Iraq in the span of 30 days!

I wonder how long it would have taken Germany, after we liberated France, to come back with a vengeance to rape and pillage the French if the US had not intervened in the situation after World War II?
