The Beagle is a sometimes frenetic and energy-filled friend, which is as dedicated to its family as the most loyal breed of dogs. The Beagle can be a tough assignment of the first time dog owner in some cases. It is a breed of dog that enjoys play and requires regular exercise. The typical Beagle owner is someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and has the time to put into his or her four-legged best friends. The breed is ideal with children, and is sure to be a fast friend to youngsters. Whether it's running around all over the backyard or playing a game of tug-of-war, the Beagle is enthusiastic about just everything. There are those who have used Beagles as hunting dogs, and they are accustomed to the outdoors, as well as suited for rigorous outdoor activity. If you are looking for a running partner, look no farther if you happen to have a Beagle handy. They enjoy a trip around the block as much, if not more, than the person on the other end of the leash. Listening to its master is a priority for the Beagle, but not exactly at the top of the list of those priorities. Like many other intelligent breeds of dogs, they have their own notions about some of the rules they observe or don't observe. The real question is if you can live with the things they won't or will do. The Beagle will want its own space, but don't be surprised if you find that you have a new Beagle headrest on your bed when you go to sleep. As for feeding, expect a lot of it. This much energy in a dog exists because they eat a lot. So, while your athletic Beagle may sport a well-muscled frame, you couldn't tell it by the amount of food that it's taking in. As for coloration of the Beagle, it can range from black, white, tan or brown. There are no solid colored Beagles. It just doesn't happen that way. If you have a solid colored Beagle, then you probably don't have a Beagle. The life span of the beagle ranges up to 15 years. Some common health concerns in the breed can occur with their ears, but largely they are a fit and healthy kind of dog that burns off any potential bad health with a lot of exercise. Your Beagle will enjoy your attention and they are fun-filled comedians who enjoy a good laugh on top of everything else. Beagles are normally good with other dogs, and are considered a good family dog. While every breed and every dog, regardless of whether it is full breed or not, has a big heart and a lot to offer, the Beagle is in a league of its own as an owner's best buddy Buddy Amato is a Hazlet business owner, who operates Amato's Karate and Weapons Academy.
