Sensei Eugene Shevchuk's Teaching Philosophy:
The truth of the matter is that I prefer to show two faces to the children.
By that, I mean I will not permit for any leeway on poor or disruptive behavior during class. I will, however, be very encouraging to a child if he/she does not immediately pick up a technique, given that they are making an earnest attempt to learn. A simple "Hey, you're picking that up well" will go a long way to keep a child's confidence level steady, and a confident child is one that will keep trying.
You can never decimate anyone's confidence, child or adult, and expect them to be motivated to learn.
By remaining stern on discipline, I believe it means more for a child to receive a positive comment from someone they perceive to be tough rather than someone who goes easy on them.
A Bit About Sensei Eugene Shevchuk:
Spending time in the martial arts has improved a great variety of abilities for me. From being a better public speaker, to being more physically coordinated, to applying this discipline to my own life...the martial arts has given to me much more than a mere way to fight. I wish every person would understand just how diverse the benefits are if you truly dedicate yourself.
