Sensei Mat Siegel's Teaching Philosophy:
I'm a firm believer in "muscle memory", which basically means that however you practice a technique...is how you're going to apply it instinctually when it's needed. If you are lazy when practicing, then your technique will be lazy in a fight, but if you try hard and put your all into each technique, then you will naturally perform to your very best abilities when required.
By making sure students are giving their best effort, and by helping them understand the the following about a technique:
- what it works out
- why it's helpful in a certain situation
- how to correctly execute it
...I can help improve their confidence and hone their skills, and hopefully compel them to continue with the Martial Arts for the rest of their lives.
A Bit About Sensei Mat Siegel: The Martial Arts is a very serious study, and that can be somewhat intimidating at times to students, so I try and make it fun for them while still enforcing good technique and discipline. I'm an easy going person, but I take what I do very seriously because of the significance of what I'm teaching. I want to get better every single day I teach or am taught, and I feel everyone should strive for that goal. I don't go to the dojo just to be there, I go to teach and learn. The Martial Arts is a passion to me, and is something I can't see myself without.
