Sensei Tom Hanley's Teaching Philosophy: It is the instructor's responsibility to provide a strict, safe, and positive learning environment for all students. When teaching children it is especially important not only to focus on technique but also character. A good instructor will ensure that a child not only knows how to perform Martial Arts techniques but also knows when to use them. Therefore an instructor should always strive to produce confident students who are ready to defend themselves and those they care about from danger.
A Bit About Sensei Tom Hanley: At the age of 8 I began my training directly under Grand Master Amato. In the years since my training began I have had the privilege of learning from a number of excellent instructors at Amato's Karate Academy. When I teach I try to incorporate the lessons that I have learned from all of my senseis into each class. I have accumulated a great deal of Martial Arts knowledge and am eager to pass such knowledge on. I am a firm believer in tradition, honor, and respect and endeavour to instill such qualities in my students.
