Sempai Clare's Teaching Philosophy: Many children prefer a fast-paced class that holds their attention, while taking the time to ensure they master the basics. Even though they never like staying on one subject too long, I always make sure to engage their attention in a positive fashion. For example, I always point out the things they are doing, both right and wrong, and encourage continued improvement. Kids need boundaries and to learn how to control their actions, so when we spar, everyone learns and nobody gets hurt.

A Bit About Sempai Clare: I am not the average girl, as most girls go to the mall....instead, I choose to go to the dojo and teach Kendo. I have been studying Kendo and Iaijutsu for about 3 and half years and really enjoy the benefits it gives me. I been an artist all my life and Martial Arts is just another way of expressing one's true self.

I discovered Kendo one day when I was watching T.V., and I told my mother that I wanted to sword fight. It took about a year of, ahem, showing how it would benefit me and then I finally showed up at the dojo. The rest is history. Now I have the privilege to teach my favorite martial art to people who want to learn it.
